Road Run on 24th May

A Road Run will depart from Cheltenham on the 24th May 2008 to Tywyn Gwynedd and the Tom Rolt Rally. The run will depart from the former Black and White Coach Station Cheltenham @ 1430 hrs covering two former Routes:

640 Cheltenham-Aberystwyth
978 Cheltenham-Bangor.

The Mayor of Cheltenham, will wave away the coaches with the local press in attendance and they will run on the two nominated routes meeting up at Machynlleth (Powys) and run together to Tywyn. 

On Sunday 25th the Mayor of Tywyn will meet the coaches with the local press in attendance. The coaches will then parade through Tywyn to the Show ground.

It is planned that on Monday 26th May the coaches will do an on-mass departure from the show ground and return back home.

To register for the road run please submit an entry form (PDF) and clearly mark it 'Road Run Entrant'.

It is planned to issue Route Cards laminated for the run see below for the routes

640 Service Route Cheltenham-Gloucester-Ross on Wye-Hereford-Leominster-Builth Wells-Rhayader –Llangurig-Aberystwyth (then to Machynlleth) 

978 Service Route Cheltenham-Ledbury-Leominster-Ludlow-Knighton-Bishops Castle-Church Stoke-Kerry-Newtown-Caersws-Machynlleth

Sunday 25th and Monday 26th May - Bus service

A free bus service will run from Wharf Station to the Show ground and back at regular times.

In addition a free bus service will run giving the oppurtunity to combine  a train and bus ride in either of the folowing modes:

Train Tywyn to Nant Gwernol and  coach return from Abergynolwyn with the oppurtunity to stop at the show ground
or
travel from Tywn Wharf or the show ground to Abergynolwyn  for  reverse ride on the train.

Sunday 25th - Bala Lake Railway Trip

1800 from Tywyn Wharf,  1810 approx from outside the show ground, travel to Llanuwchllyn Station for a Steam Train ride to Bala and back. The train will be double headed by two Quarry Hunsletts. Oppurtunity to walk into Bala or do a return on the train and travel to Bala by Coach. Coach will return from Bala to Tywyn.
