Steampipes, the annual film show and organ recital, held by the London Area Groups of the Talyllyn, Ffestiniog and Welshpool & Llanfair Railways, takes place this year on Thursday 11th December at Friends Meeting House, 173 Euston Road, London NW1, right opposite Euston Station.  Doors open at 18.30 with a start time of 19.00.  The show is scheduled to finish by 22.00. 

The films being shown this year include scenes of Brighton, Dover and Folkestone in 1929/30; including the last ever run of the Southern Belle.  A vintage Welsh Narrow Gauge film shows a brief few shots of the incline at Abergynolwyn, actually working.  In addition, there is the usual selection of comedy and the odd surprise.  The show will, once again, be compeered by Rob Foxon with Len Rawle on the organ. 

It is now too late to send for your tickets but there will be sideways facing seats for sale on the night at £7.50 for adults and £4 for under 16’s.  Payment must be by cash or cheque, with a current banker’s card.  Cheques should be made payable to “Talyllyn Railway Preservation Society”.

The sales stand will be at Steampipes selling 2009 calendars and 5 different designs of Talyllyn Christmas cards.  The stand will also have some DVD’s, and the 2009 Talyllyn timetables will be available.

The next London Area Group committee meeting has been set for Monday 23rd March 2008.  Details from Area Group Secretary Jeff Nettleton.

The London Area Group Outing in 2009 will be on Saturday 30th May, and will be to the Mid Hants Railway Diesel Gala.  Travel will be by train from Waterloo, and more details will be available later in the year.  No advanced booking is necessary, just turn up on the day.

The Sales stand did reasonably well at the two-day Kew Bridge Live Steam show in Mid November, we sold slightly more Christmas cards and calendars than in previous years, but our overall takings were some 10% down.
