To join the TRPS, please complete the membership form and either send it with your subscription to the address shown or hand it in on the Railway. You may pay either an annual subscription or a lump sum for life. There are special concessionary rates for Senior and Junior members and for members of the same family after the first adult. Extra donations are of course always welcome.

What Does our Railway Get?

• Your subscription will help to keep the wheels turning.
• If you decide to become a volunteer, your help and efforts will be most welcome.
• Your word-of-mouth endorsement is the most valuable publicity the Railway can have. A new friend.

Supporting the 300 or so members of the Society who enjoy voluntary work on the railway are others of us who organise events in our home areas to publicise the Railway and raise funds. There are almost 3700 of us and our membership subscriptions and donations are vital in balancing our Railway's books and our informal publicising of our Railway is of incalculable value in increasing passenger numbers.

• Free third-class travel on the Railway by advertised public services and certain travel facilities on the Ffestiniog Railway.
• Free entry to the Narrow Gauge Railway Museum.
• The Talyllyn News, a high-quality illustrated quarterly magazine edited by Nicholas Newble, keeps members informed of developments and changes at the Railway.
• Trackside, edited by Chris Awdry, is tailored to the interests of younger members.
• Admission to the Society's Annual General Meeting where you can use your vote to influence the future of the railway.

How the Society functions

The Talyllyn Railway Preservation Society has real and effective control over the Talyllyn Railway. The Society's Council of twenty, half subject to re-election at each year's Annual General Meeting, nominates three directors to the Board of the Talyllyn Railway Company. The other two directors are appointed by a descendant of Sir Haydn Jones, the former owner of the line.

The Board tends to deal with employment, legal and health & safety matters while the Council takes most other major decisions. Various committees deal with the details of certain aspects of the Railway. Local area group committees organise activities in their regions virtually autonomously and a Young Members' Group looks after the interests of the 14 to 25 age range.
